The main issue of this research is to find out the relationship between theimplementation of knowledge management strategy(KMS) and organizationalperformance in firms’ manage actions, and we focus on the effects of environmentaluncertainty in this process. Based on the study of former scholars, we divide theKMS into two styles: the codification strategy and the personalization strategy,codification strategy collected, codified and stored explicit knowledge andexperiences in databases by computer, everybody in that company can use themwhen they needed; personalization strategy needs the people who develop and takethe knowledge to share them through the way “a man to another”, computers hereare used to help people to communicate but not to store; we choose environmentaluncertainty as the moderator,then analyse its effects on both the codificationstrategy and the personalization strategy and organizational performance. There arethree hypothese: the implementation of KMS has a positive effect on organizationalperformance, the environmental uncertainty has a negative effect on organizationalperformance, the environmental uncertainty will moderate the relationship betweenKMS and organizational performance.To test whether these hypothesis can be true, the author chose400firms oftelecommunications and other relative service trades as the simple, after collectingand choosing, there are189questionnaires effective, the rate is47%.Then we usedthe software SPSS18.0to analyse these data’s reality, validity and then do theregression analysis, and we have proved that environmental uncertainty canmoderate the relations between KMS and organizational performance, and all the conclusions are as follows:First, KMS has an active effect on organizational performance obviously, itmeans, if a company use the KMS rationally, it will gain a higher level ofperformance. And the two dimension codification strategy and personalizationstrategy also have active effect on organizational performance, no matter which onethe company choose, it will do good to its performance.Second, environmental uncertainty can moderate the relationship between KMSand organizational performance, it means you can’t ignore the effect of environmentfactors when you want to up performance level by using KMS. If a company canchange its actions with environment does, and hold the opportunities, then use KMSwill obtain a better result than competitors. At the same time, we foundenvironmental uncertainty can affect codification strategy and performance, butcan’t affect personalization strategy.Third, environmental uncertainty has an active effect on organizationalperformance, there are two reasons:the one is when a company face the highuncertainty, it will focus on changes of environment more than ever, thus willreduce instability;the other one is environmental uncertainty will impel thecompany to take more time and efforts on products’ innovation, then it can face thethreat that products and services date, this way must make the company gain ahigher performance level.Based on these conclusions, the author suggests managers should choose theright KMS by analyse actuality, and in the process of using KMS, the companyshould keep an eye o environment factors, and hold opportunities, then it will have abetter level of performance.
