In the era of the21st knowledge-based economy, project management has bedeemed as the method of the enterprise management for the overall business activitiesand be the key approach of the society management and enterprise management.Among the scope of a project management, project cost management is the core ofall project management elements, the high efficiency and scientific project costmanagement is the key factory to measure the success of the project management foran enterprise. The success of project cost management brings manifest economicbenefits.To control the cost of a project is the key to manage the cost of a project, onlywhen the project cost control success, the project manage is success. So it hasimportant strategic meaning to study the project cost control method and technologyand put in use for all companies.As the biggest EMS for electronic product within the world, A companyprovides the so called “one stop” solution to cover product designing, manufacturingand after service for the multiple brand companies nowadays. Accompanied by thewidely used of IE theory and technology in the company, the cost control obtained asuperb result in the manufacturing and transportation area, but had little effect in thatof after service filed. As a matter of fact, the management team of GSSD (GlobalService and Solution Division) took the cost down and pursuing effective costmanagement method as their target. From the PC product after service project as thestart, studied the cost control concept such as cost, project cost, project cost control, etc and analyzed all kinds of measures of project cost control, like Work BreakdownStructure and Earn Value Theory. Followed by identification and dismantling the coststructure of A company and figured out the major issues embedded in the project costcontrol, then outlined the overall issues resolving principle in the light of the logic of“find issues analyze issues solve issues” and with reference of the cost controltheory and technology. After that, applied the relevant cost control theory andtechnology to A company after service project operation with Speed X6project as anexperimentation. In the end, analyzed the outcomes of the cost control from theperspectives of the profit result, core competence enhancement and customersatisfaction. Summarized the main idea of this article and pointed out the otheraspects of project cost control and the improvement direction of cost control in thefuture. On the basis of this, highlighted the other aspects of project cost control andpointed out the direction of sustaining cost control improvement. A company hasgroped out a set of operative method and technology in the cost control area, whichcould offer a guiding significance for the relative fields.
