Study On The Relationship Between Economic Growth And Carbon Dioxide Emissions In Gansu

Human transformation activities of nature are intensifying after the Industrial Revolution; economic growth is highly dependent on fossil fuels;the greenhouse effect-global warming is a serious threat to the survival of mankind, which restricts the sustainable development of the global economy.Worldwide carbon reduction is a general trend. Gansu Province is an old industrial base under the auspices of the policy after the founding of new China; the development of heavy industry and technology is backward, which means that the carbon dioxide per10,000RMB GDP emissions of Gansu Province is higher. Therefore, Gansu Province is facing a strategic choice for the development of low-carbon economy.This dissertation first analyzes the research background, significance, and combs the research advances and related theory at home and abroad, followed by Tapio decoupling model to study the decoupling between the Gansu Province of economic growth and carbon dioxide emissions,the results show that, from2000to2009there are four situation between the economic growth and carbon dioxide emissions:the negative decoupling of growth, an increase of reference, weak decoupling and strong decoupling, without the strong negative decoupling situation that the economic grows slowly and environment is damaged strongly.Then this thesis uses multivariate regression model to deep analyze the causes of Gansu Province decoupling state, showing industrial and energy structures are the main reasons resulting in Gansu Province decoupled state.Lacking of the talent and technology conduces that conditions which accelerate the decoupling are not adequate in short-term, while the existence of path dependence increases the difficulty of improving the decoupling state.Finally this paper puts forward the measures which include adjusting the energy structure, optimizing industrial structure, training and introducing the relevant professionals, strengthening low-carbon technological innovation, encouraging the carbon trade and the construction of low-carbon environment,and so on.
