Chinese service trade has developed rapidly in the past decades, but the international competitiveness of the trade in services is still weak. This paper selects some relevant indicators to analyze the basic situation of the international competitiveness of Chinese service trade, comparing with the rest of the world services trade powers. Then this paper analyze the effecting factors of the competitiveness in the service trade empirically, using a panel-data of the top15countries in the service trade from1985-2009, including China. The results show that the domestic economic development, the level of development of trade in goods, the level of human capital, the level of domestic services sector development, the degree of opening up of service and the foreign direct investment are important effects on the competitiveness of service trade, but considering different levels of.the development, the level of human capital and the foreign direct investment do not play a significant role in promoting the competitiveness of service trade in the developing countries, and the other factors also perform weaker than in the developed countries. Finally the promoting countermeasures on how to enhance the competitiveness of Chinese service trade is proposed based on the empirical analysis in this paper.
