After the Cold War, the overall international situation is easing; Peace andDevelopment have become the theme of the times. In this context, all countries competeto develop the economy and increasingly high inter-regional economic ties andeconomic interdependence, economic globalization and regional economic integrationhas become the trend of future development. After Western Europe, North America andother regions to achieve regional economic integration, economic integration in EastAsia has also been put on the agenda. There are many differences in East Asian countries, large and small countries, different cultural and religious, the different level of development, there are manyreality and potential conflicts in political and security. It is the economy can find thefield of the things in common. Economic integration, mutually beneficialinterdependent relationship is to promote stability in East Asia and the cornerstone ofsecurity. East Asian regional economic integration is late to launch, and the level ofeconomic integration is relatively low, but the vivid and diverse forms of cooperation, development speed, and still get great results. The development of anything is not easy, and regional economic integration in EastAsia is no exception. From the outset by many adverse factors, problems within theregion, failed to reach agreement on regional economic integration, in addition toexternal countries to interfere and obstruct, particularly in the United States for the most. These negative factors, delayed the implementation of the regional economic integration, but also makes the region faces the danger of internal division. In short, the lack of EastAsian consciousness, lack of cultural identity in East Asia, but also the lack of regionalpowers to play a leading role in the internal contradictions of the East Asian region, theproblem is extremely complex. In any case, the geographic advantage and economic interdependence is gettinghigher and higher, still makes the East Asian regional economic integration has been moving forward. East Asian countries along with the depth of the economic exchangesand dependence on constantly enhanced cultural identity in East Asia continue todeepen, and gradually form a common regional consciousness within the region, namelythe East Asian consciousness. The same time, as elsewhere, to build the region’s leadingforce in promoting regional economic integration, as far as possible to exclude theinterference of external forces. Only in this way, the East Asian regional economicintegration in order to break through the current dilemma, get a higher level ofdevelopment.
