| Nowadays, the economic globalization and regional economic integration has become an overwhelming and irreversible development trend. Strengthening the regional economic cooperation, sharing regional resources and market and realizing the common development has been accepted as a mutual understanding and development strategy of many countries and regions. During the period of the development of regional economic integration, EU and NAFTA, as the success and leaders, have been in advance of the world's pace. With the rapid progress of economic integration and constant improvement of cooperation, presently, EU and NAFTA have been deemed to be the most powerful, influential, and largest regional economic groups, and deeply affected the world wide economic development. However, for such reasons as late start, low level, and slow development in regional cooperation, the economic development has been restricted among regional countries in East Asia, although it is one of three economic centers of the world. As a large country in East Asia, China, with its great influence and important position in the regional economic cooperation, has contributed significant efforts in the promotion of East Asian cooperation. Meanwhile, in order to deepen external opening-up and develop more rapidly, China must strengthen the cooperation with East Asia region. Therefore, active promotion of cooperation within East Asian region reflects not only the requirements of East Asian development, but also the necessity of the development of China.Linking the examples with related theories which include macro economy, international economic cooperation and regional economic integration, and combining the methods of qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, this paper specifically analyses the related issues and studies the approaches and directions of the development of economic integration and cooperation in East Asia. Further more, on the above basis, the paper generally discusses the necessity and advantage, and raises the strategic countermeasure of China in the cooperation in East Asia. Firstly, beginning with the discussion of the development of world wide economic cooperation, according to theories, cooperation modes and seedtimes of global economic cooperation and integration, by briefly analyzing, evaluating and comparing with the world's three economic centers' development modes, levels of cooperation, organizational structures, decision-making institutions and promotions of economy and trades, it is found that the strengthening of regional economic cooperation is the necessary choice of countries that look forward to develop rapidly in East Asia. |
