Along with the step of the knowledge economy striding into the21th century, knowledge-one of the resources of an organization plays a more and more important role in productivity and competitiveness. So its main carriers-knowledge workers are paid more attention. Because it’s them who can get knowledge, use knowledge and develop knowledge to create value for the organization, and keep and enhance the organization’s core competitiveness. But knowledge workers are different from other workers, they can’t be incentive by the regular ways which are used for other ones, and they should be incentive based on their characteristics and really needs, and in this way, the incentive mechanism can be useful and can improve the knowledge workers’enthusiasm and creation. So based on the characteristics of the knowledge workers, this paper analyzed two things:improving the traditional principal-agent model and changing the traditional assumption. There are mainly three parts in this paper:The first part includes chapter1and chapter2. There is an introduction of the background about the issue and then made a conclusion about the study of incentive of knowledge workers, finding the main incentive factors of our knowledge workers, and analyzing the meaning of the research. The second part is chapter3. In this chapter there is an improvement about the traditional principal-agent model based on Cobb-Douglas production function, and respectively analyzed the influences of the input of the principal, the abilities of agents and effort levels of agents on incomes of the principal and agents under information symmetry and information asymmetry. The third part is chapter4. In this chapter the assumption about the agents is different from the traditional model. Agents are assumed to be fairness preference. Under this assumption, models under information symmetry and information asymmetry are established and analyzed, and finding the relationships between fairness preference and incomes of principal and agents. Finally, there is a conclusion about this paper and an issue to go on research.
