Urumqi owns rich and unique tourism resources.With the adjustment of industrial structure, tourism of Urumqi has increasingly becoming an important economic pillar. But due to multiple factors such as geographical, historical, religious, Urumqi living in a complex ethnic and political background, brewing potential crisis. Xinjiang75 events was the wave of ethnic violence caused by a series of complex factors, not only damage the Urumqi region’s economic development, more seriously affected the development of local tourism, especially the detriment of the tourism image. Repair and improve the tourism image is very important to restoration and development of tourism in Urumqi, image management strategies in the context of emergencies is of great significance.The review of the foreign tourism images’research shows that, research of western tourism image won complete framework and solid theoretical foundation,cross-used multi-disciplinary knowledge and specification methods, which study is relatively mature; the research of domestic tourism image was originated in tourism geography, and reflected in the plan text of tourist destination or tourist attraction, performed good in resources and contextual analysis. However, little research has been done in the study of domestic incident management on the ethnic minority areas, tourism image research in the context of emergencies toward these areas are weaker.This article draw on integrated tourism image and tourism crisis theory, explored the impact of unexpected events on tourist destination,analyzed the impact model, then revealed the mechanism of the unexpected events that affect the tourist image. And through empirical analysis of Urumqi tourism image in the context of the Xinjiang75 events, using IPA tools, obtained the travel experience information from tourists about Urumqi tourism image in the context of the emergencies. It turns out that Urumqi’ tourism image are still suffering from the impact of Xinjiang75 events. In one hand, the impact of unexpected events continually affecting Urumqi tourism image while the image needs to be repaired; on the other hand negative factors of tourism image are founded which need to be improved in the future; finally new perspective were offered to promote Urumqi tourism image. Finally, Proposed restoration and development strategies of Urumqi tourism image based on the theoretical and empirical analysis results, concluding promotion strategies of media image and repair strategies of realistic image. Clarified the main responsibility of the implementation strategy, put forward specific tourism image that need to be repaired, offered guidance recommends on selecting communication channels according to relevant data. Put forward suggestions like enhancing service image, strength fundamentality image, promote the appearance image according to the results of empirical research.This article is divided into four parts. The first chapter introduces the research background, research objectives, research significance, content and technology roadmap, then reviewed image of the relevant literature; ChapterⅡof this paper introduced the theoretical basis and some of the basic theories, basic conceptual model used in this paper, concluding concepts and classifications of emergencies, explored the impact that unexpected events may caused on tourism destination, and analyze the path model of impaction that emergencies impact on tourism image. ChapterⅢmake use of IPA tools did an empirical research, analyzed Urumqi tourism image in the context of emergencies, then did a comprehensive analysis based on the empirical results; Urumqi tourism image restoration and development of strategies were discussed in the final chapter basing on empirical research. Hoping that the result of this paper could do contribute to the recovery and development of the tourism industry of Xinjiang.
