The Yangtze River delta launched its first industrialization that was pushed by rural industry and basic consumption during1980s, while witnessed huge upgrading inspired by the development of Pudong district and export-oriented economy during1990s. Now, with the low-level industries moving westwards, the Yangtze delta has entered a new round of development based on structural adjustment.Services industry will be upgrading from the basic consumer services to producer services, and finally to high-level consumer services. Those three stages construct into the whole route of progressing. After the2008financial crisis, the tense international economic situation, weak external demand and trade imbalance have decreased the engine power of economic growth. A lot of countries have focused on domestic market, hoping to stimulate a new round of economic growth through demand-pull. At this moment, the shrinking market needs to accelerate internal economic restructuring and to find new points of economic growth. As a result, it is reasonable and practical to treat consumer services as the savior. This thesis wants to search the leading industries and possible economic growth route for the Yangtze River delta by researched on consumption structure upgrading and industry segmentation. At the same time, the thesis uses panel data regress, and implements such as OLS, VAR and impulse response function, to verify the contribution of local economic development made by consumer services and its segmented industries.
