China is a large agricultural nation, in which both the rapid development of agriculture andthe stable and constant farmers’ incomes could contribute to rapidly economic and socialdevelopment. In recent years, there have been some increasingly striking phenomena emerged,such as the slow development of farmers’ incomes, the large gap of rural and urban residentsincomes and so on. The difficulty of increasing farmers’ incomes in China has become aprincipal contradiction in rural economic development.Although the factors of influencing the farmers’ incomes are various, the most fundamentalapproach of facilitating famers’ income is to rely on the progress of agricultural science andtechnology in the long run. Agricultural science and technology could promote the developmentof traditional agriculture to modem agriculture and the change of extensive agriculture tointensive agriculture. In the meantime, the agricultural science and technology graduallyreplaced the agricultural resources endowment and became the decisive factor of comparativeadvantage among various coutries. And vigorously developing the agricultural science andtechnology and insisting on the strategy of rejuvenating the country through science andeducation are the inevitable choice to keep agriculture constant development and the stablegrowth of farmers’ income. Therefore, it is very significant to analyse the current situation offarmers’ income, look for the channel of increasing income and explore the developmentaldirection of agricultural science and technology.The first part of this thesis analyzes the effect of agricultural science and technology onagricultural development and the present situation of farmers’ income in China, and points outthat the agricultural income is still the main component of farmers’ income; The second partdiscusses the acceleration effect and influence of agricultural science and technology on thefarmers’ income growth; The third part explores the restraining factors of agricultural science andtechnology on promoting farmers’ income; And the fourth part puts forward somecountermeasures and suggestions on how to promote famers’ income by relying on scientific andtechnological progress, including strengthening the attention of the government, improving thelevel of agricultural science, technology and research, strengthening the promotion of agriculturescience and technology, emphasizing the education training for farmers, establishing the ruralinformation transmission system, speeding up the agriculture industrialization development, etc.
