Objective:The knowledge of nuclear power in public was investigated from Hengyang Cityby using the Chinese questionnaire and its influencing factors was analyzed in orderto understand the extent of the cognitive level of public nuclear power and explore theeffective measures that improve the education of nuclear power cognitive level forproviding a scientific basis to develop targeted education strategy.Methods:4200persons were randomly selected from five District (Hongxiang District,Yanfeng District, Zhuhui District, Zhengxiang District, Shigu District) and fivecounties (Hengnan County, Hengyang County, Hengshan County, Changning County,Hengdong County) of Hengyang city and3000students were randomly selected from7colleges of university of south china. They were anonymously investigated byinvestigators of uniform training. Data was entered and analyzed by SPSS16.0statistical software. The differences in groups were tested by T test and analysis ofvariance (two sets of measurement data with t test, comparison of the mean scorebetween groups was tested by the single factor analysis of variance), chi-square testwith rate comparison).Results:1. A total of4200questionnaires have been distributed but only4083werecompleted and useable, thus the rate of response was97.21percent. There were maleswith54.98percent and females with45.02percent. Age group of17years~,30years~years,40years~,50years~,60years~) accounted for23.98percent,34.41percent,16.29percent,13.30percent, and12.02percent. The level of understanding for nuclear-related knowledge was low in Hengyangcity, the mastery of knowledge in men than women, the cognitive level of the40yearsold age group was the highest, with the increase of educational level was anincreasing tendency, urban was higher than rural areas, The level of understanding fornuclear-related knowledge increased with personal income increased.3. The level of public nuclear power cognitive had directly influenced on theattitude of acceptance by the public nuclear power. The way public understanding of nuclear information were internet, television, radio, newspapers, magazines, friends and family and other ways, television isprincipal way(83.4%), then the network (68.9%), radio (57.2%), newspapers andbooks (45.8%), friends and family (28.2%),other ways were only (6.8%).5. There were statistically significant in seven problems of the cognitive level ofawareness of Fukushima nuclear accident for university student except problem ofwhether the China’s nuclear technology is mature or not.Conclusion:1.
