With the development of mobile Internet, it has become increasingly desirable that telecom carriers transform their operation model from pipeline operation to full-service operation. For years, the carriers have advocated and tried this transformation, but few have made any success. Meanwhile, the rapid growth of OTT vendors is posing a great threat to the traditional services of the carriers. Under this circumstance, the emergence of cloud computing and its current development proves to be an excellent opportunity for the transformation of the carriers. This thesis, by analyzing the characteristics of cloud computing as well as the carriers’business model, puts forwards some proposals for the carries to develop strategically in cloud computing.This thesis includes6chapters:Chapter Ⅰ makes a brief introduction to the background in which the carries seek changes; Chapter Ⅱ describes the changes taking place in the telecommunications industry, the difficulties the carries are facing in dealing with both competitors and other industry players, and the advantages of cloud computing in solving these problems; Chapter Ⅲ introduces the basic concept of cloud computing, which enterprises are developing cloud computing and the current situation of cloud computing application by the carriers; Chapter Ⅳ analyses the good application prospects of cloud computing in telecommunications, and the enlightenment from the cloud computing application by a foreign carrier; Chapter Ⅴ discusses the carriers’cloud strategy and puts forwards some proposals for the carries to develop strategically in cloud computing; Chapter Ⅵ is the conclusion and a summary of the whole thesis.
