Analysis On Mineral Resources And Its Exploitation In Tongshan County, North Of Jiangsu Province

The development and utilization of mineral resources in TongShan County of north Jiangsuprovince were investigated, analyzed and researched in this paper, with the aims to understand theadvantages and disadvantages, opportunities and threats, and further determine the recent and longdevelopment goal and strategy for the sustainable utilization of mineral resources. The researchresults can provide decision-making basis for the mineral resources sustainable development in atypical county scale.Through analysis of development and utilization of mineral resources in TongShan County ofthe northern Jiangsu, this paper summarized the achievements and existing problems. The analysisresults showed that mineral resources exploration, exploitation and environmental protection hadachieved remarkable results, but there were still some problems including an unreasonable miningindustry structure, and the extensive utilization of mineral resources and resources shortage, etc.The advantages and disadvantages of mineral resources, development opportunities andthreats in TongShan County were then analyzed using the SWOT analytical model. It suggestedthat TongShan County should choose four strategies, i.e., SO, ST, WO, WT, to ultimatelydetermine the best strategy for mineral resources development according to differentcharacteristics of mineral resources.Through analysis of the factors leading to the contradiction between supply and demand of themineral resources, this paper predicted the demand of future mineral, calculated the years ofmineral resources exploitation from the static and dynamic perspectives. The results showed thatthere was a big difference between the static and dynamic calculation mainly due to the dynamicchanges of the production. Based on the goal of production and demand, it suggested thatTongShan County should optimize the exploitation strategy to resources according to differenttypes of minerals.Finally, around the current situation and the actual exploitation efficiency of mineral resources,this paper thus put forward9countermeasures and suggestions from the aspects such as thecontrol of mineral resources, mineral resources layout structure optimizing, resources integrationand implementation of mining circulation economy mode.
