Design&Research On Ceramic Electric Kettle Based On Green Design Concept

Global environment and human health are not only a subject we should face in ourindustrial design field, more than that it becomes an aspiration of everyone when peoplebegin to pay attention to their own health.“Green Design” is one of the new topics which regards as the top target by manycountry, so do we. China still need some time to improve this as the studying andexploring of “Green Design” in China now is just its beginning. The industrial designwill achieve a higher level and a new realm when we bring “Green Design” concept in.The ceramic materials as one of the green materials will be the object that discussed inthis article. Green ceramic materials are widely used in industrial design because theyhave many advantages such as high temperature resistant, wear-proof, corrosionpreventive. The other side, since antiquity the development of ceramic is intimatecontact with China’s development and the research on ceramic product has a verypositive meaning on it.This paper built a concept of green design and put forward the developmentprocess of it base on the existing theoretical literature and design methods at home andabroad. It’s doing a research on ceramic materials kettle with a combination of theoryand design, and a guiding ideology of green design concept. It is an inevitable trend touse ceramic materials in small kettle from the perspective of materials science,ergonomics, product semantics, aesthetics and green design. Now the kettle design notonly be improved in shape and using method, but also break the tradition andconvention and get a big breakthrough in the application of the material. Beyond that,the application of green materials as the core of green design idea is considered moreoften when the modern people pursuit simplicity as well as is part of the materialsscience which is the basic discipline of industrial design.The fourth chapter is the core part of this paper and which is a case study ofceramic kettle. It’s a highlight of design innovation in this paper also an improvement ofmodern design to apply ceramic material in kettle design. After analyzed kinds offactors of ceramic kettle such as shape, materials, the people who using it and theenvironment of using, it finally comes out with some solutions and pose the values anddevelopment trend of ceramic kettle in the future. The last chapter of this thesis is thesummary and expectation that the ceramic industry is not only a decorative art, also anew space for exploring its own development. Development on new type of greenceramic material is the trend of design in future, so we should make it thrive and aboundby using its own advantage and combines it with modern design techniques.
