In recent years, China’s economic growth mainly depended on the double sided pulling of domestic investment demand and consumer demand. In China, consumption of urban residents were in the rise preparation period, plus the nondeterminacy of income expectation, consumption tended to decline, saving tended to rise, dependence of the national economy on the rural consumer market was significantly enhanced, Analising the level of consumption of rural residents in Guangxi was important in the rapid growth of the Guangxi economy.The test set Guangxi rural residents as a object, which based on the experience data of Guangxi from1985to2010, analyzed the alteration of the consumption level of Guangxi rural residents.The main conclusions are as follows:1. Guangxi rural consumption levels were determined mainly by the impact of income and consumption level of rural residents was rising steadily.From1985to1996, rural residents’ average propensity to consume was higher; however, from1997to2010, the average propensity to consume significantly lower than the previous stage. But the fluctuations of average propensity to consume of Guangxi rural residents showed a downward trend; Guangxi Region’s rural Engel coefficient also showed a downward trend since1985. Through the horizontal comparison of Guangxi cities and rural residents’ income and consumption levels, concluded that the income gap of Guangxi rural residents decreased gradually in recent years, there is a gap in consumption level of rural residents, which tend to increase year after year.2. Increase in per capita net income of Guangxi rural residents was the main reason for changes in consumer spending.To expand the consumption of rural residents, we have to increase the income of rural residents and improve the income level of rural residents.3. Despite in the short term, the urbanization driving rural consumption growth existed a certain time lag, but all in all, the development of Guangxi urbanization had a significant role in promoting the growth of rural consumption demand. However, on one hand, urbanization promote d rural consumption level, on the other hand, consumption of rural residents also had a role in promoting rural urbanization.4. Guangxi government investment significantly enhanced the consumption level of rural residents in the short-term and reduced consumption of rural residents in the long-term.
