The matchmaker plays an important part in Changyang marriage customs sinceancient times, however,the full-time matchmaker showed up in this place since theQing Dynasty.The integration of Han nationality making the matchmaker hasundergone a big change,which disrupted the original route of this national marriagecustoms in this region.The changes of status and function on matchmaker canprofoundly mapping out the history of the marriage customs even the social mentaloutlook of the nation.Which turned out to be the purpose of this article.There are not much thesis or monograph has been found studying on the matchmakersystem of this region,most of which are conducted mostly in other parts of themarriage customs such as Crying marriage.This is due the loss of numerous originalmaterial.It is so hard to collect materials since people are too old to be interviewedeven we find which who knows it.However,there is no doubt that the matchmakerplays very important part in local people`s life by throughout the history of theregion.Study deeply of this has an important role and significance both in socialcustoms and ethics for learninging and understanding the marriage tradition of thisplace much more further.Due to the loss of material, I did a lot of fieldwork in order to collect first-handinformation,with ummarising the relevant historical data theory about it,in order toclarify the changes in matchmaker cultural history of this area,which helps a lot.The thesis is composed of five main parts.The preface mainly introduces currentresearch of the marthmaker in Changyang folklore culture and textual researchmethod.The second part discusses about the distribution of the Tujia national minority,as well as the image of matchmaker in the folklore and folk literature of this area.The third part is to clarify the changes in matchmaker cultural history of this area,thenanalysis the historical reasons and social reasons for these changes by combining thespecific folk tales, legends, folk songs,ceremonies, etc.The forth part discusses and interprets the significance of matchmaker by all kinds oftheories in folklore,folk literature and anthropology.The last part reveals the changes of the matvhmaker in today’s life and in futrue, on the basis of theinvestigation of field work in Changyang tujia national minority,...
