With history as a mirror, one can understand the fall and rise of anation. Currently, the economic and social development of Chinaenters into a crucial stage of overcoming hardships and facingchallenges, thus how to advance the reform becomes the key step forshaping the future of China. Grounded on the basic theory of MarxistEconomics, guided by Marxist Philosophy and Economics, in theview of system changes, this thesis explores the radical factors forChina’s economic and social development from the ChinaModernization Movement in1840. With a view to the future, thisthesis points out that it is significant for advancing China’s currenteconomic system reform by both reflecting upon the mistakes andlearning from the experiences of developing economic committedduring the periods of end of Qing Dynasty, Republic of China andafter PRC’s constitution in1949.This thesis presents that the system consists of basic economicsystem, economic institutional system and economic mechanismsystem determine the effectiveness of production relations and impactthe development of production forces from different aspects.Comparing those three systems and analyzing the levels ofproduction forces, this thesis concludes the general system factor foreconomic development and comes up with the enlightenments forChina’s current economic system reform.
