Lanzhou-Xining Economic Region (replaced with Lanxi Zonehereinafter) is an important zone in terms of the new turn of WesternDevelopment Strategy in China during the12th Five Years. LanxiEconomic Zone is the major development region with good traffic systemand industrial conditions. Lanxi Economic Zone owns rich resources inminerals, power source and natural scenes.the article based on the urban spatial distribution,"two Hearts","twoeconomic circles", one development line, building a cities network withmany other small towns as growth poles, discusses the goal of the spatiallayout of the cities and towns in the zone, at a point of cities andindustries.Firstly, based on discussing the basis of economic development inLanxi Zone, the article analyzes the realistic conditions of cities.Compared with the ones in western areas of china, cities of Lanxi Zonelack enough development in city carrying capabilities and driving forcesto the towns around, far behind Xi’an,Chengdu. Medium-sized cities andsmall towns develop slowly.Secondly, the article analyzes industry development of the maincities and major towns in the region, which found that industrial systemhas taken shape, distinctive provincial industry develops rapidly and has arather specific layout in terms of industrial parks. However, the industry development takes on a trend of imbalance.
