Since the reform and opening up, Chinese tourism has been developing at a more rapid pace than the world average level. It is expected that China will become the world’s largest tourist destination country in2020.As an important country of destination, We should do more research into the inbound tourist market so as to deepen our knowledge and understanding of tourist market and to further explore the market by carrying out the promotional activities effectively, thus advancing the development of China’s inbound tourism.However, Under the influence of the resource distribution, regional difference, infrastructure and policies as well as other factors, Chinese inbound tourism has developed extremely lopsidedly, and "Matthew effect" appears to be more apparent. Therefore, based on the tourist market, this paper will make a quantitative analysis of the eastern and western inbound tourist markets respectively in order to acquire their temporal and spatial evolution law of inbound tourism market in both eastern and western China, providing reference for formulating regional tourism marketing strategy.This paper will take12typical provinces and cities as an example, treat relevant statistical yearbook as the data source, and use the traditional market research method to research and analyze. First, make an analysis of the general condition and the current situation of tourist industry in the eastern region; Second, using the index preference degree and competition state to analyze6typical provinces and cities of the Area of annulus Bohai、The Yangtze River Delta Area and The Pearl River Delta Area; In the same way, do quantitative analysis about6typical provinces and cities of the Yunnan-Guizhou region、the northwest area and the Sichuan and Chongqing area; Third, make comparative analysis on the evolution law of the eastern region and the western region; Last, make a summary and refinemen about the evolution law.The conclusion could be drawn as the following points:(1) In the segmentation of China’s inbound tourist market, eastern tourists dominant concentration ranges wider than the western, but the number of the western tourist market in interannual could be seen to increase, While the eastern fluctuations in decline. The merit of the eastern inbound tourism market could be mainly reflected in the14preference tourist markets like Japan、Republic of Korea、Philippines、Singapore、 Malaysia、Thailand and so on. The preference degree of the strong preference tourist market has dropped in recent years, while the weak preference tourist market and the sparse scenery tourist market have been in a state of vibration.The advantage of the western inbound tourism market could be mainly demonstrated in8strong preference tourist markets, such as Singapore、Thailand、The USA、Britain and so on; the preference degree of the strong preference tourist market and the weak preference tourist market has been in a state of vibration; while the sparse scenery tourist market has increased steadily.(2) Seen from the view of the competition situation:we could notice that the growth of Thailand、Britain、France and Germany in the east is relatively weak while it is strong in the west. However, the growth momentum of Singapore and Canada in the west is weak; while it is strong in the east. The inter-annual variation of competitive state in the east is more sTab. than the west.In the east, the distribution of competitive state about inbound tourism market is as follows:Thailand、Britain、France and Germany belong to the thin dog market; Russia、 Singapore and Canada belong to the infant market. While in the west, Thailand、Britain、 France and Germany belong to the infant market, Russia belongs to the star market, and Singapore and Canada belong to the thin dog market.In terms oof the representative market, the inter-annual variation of competition state about the strong preference market in the east is more sTab. than the west. For example, those western countries like Britain Thailand、Germany and Russia belong to the star market in2005, but they all changed into the thin dog market in2007, so we can see the variation of amplitude is apparent.(3) From the view of the development trend about inbound tourism market:The development status of the east is more ideal than the west; However, the development momentum of the west is more excellent than the east.In the main tourist market in the east, there are4markets which lie in an ideal state of distribution, while the west, there are only2markets. However, in both the east and west, the actual state of distribution is tilt up, but the degree of tilt in the west is bigger than the east. So we can see most of the tourism market prefer the west to the east, but the competition situation in the west is not optimistic.
