Empirical Research On The City Logistics Competitiveness Evaluation In The Economic Zone Of West Taiwan Strait

The city logistics is a very important part of the cities’ economic construction anddevelopment. To develop city logistic is benefit for optimizing a city’s modernfunction and improving comprehensive competitiveness. The Economic Zone of WestTaiwan Strait (EZWTS) is important economic region supported by the governmentstrategy plan. The city logistic can play a critical role in improving cities’comprehensive competitiveness of EZWTS and supporting cities’ sustainabledevelopment.This thesis based on the relative theory of logistics and city logistics both domesticand overseas, created five factors (infrastructure competitiveness, logistics industrycompetitiveness, city economic competitiveness, logistics workforce competitiveness,development environment competitiveness.) to assess cities logistics systemically.Using the SPSS factor and cluster analysis, the author analyzed and assessed eachfactor of the EZWTS from2005to2010.The results show that: the overall competitiveness of city logistics is poor weak,Cities show "onion" type of unbalanced structure Logistics infrastructurebackwardness has not been fundamentally reversed, but with the advantage. Differentlevels of cities have difference in mining potential and improving the logisticsefficiency of the logistics industry. In order to enhance the competitiveness of citylogistics, we need to vigorously develop social consumer goods retail and the tertiaryindustry. Lack of human resource, the EZWTS can not meet the development needsof city logistics. The regions where are restrict by the location have to optimize themarket development environment, and establish the logistics development plan andtax breaks policies. According to the assessment and analysis, the author gave somesuggestions to improve the logistics competitiveness of the EZWTS.
