Research On Selection Of Strategic Industry Of Importance

The main concern of this paper is the selection of strategic industries of importance, which is our country’s key point for development in the next stage. It is of great significance in optimizing China’s structure of industry, leading advancement in science and technology, stimulating demand and promoting international trade. At present, people in different areas have a misunderstanding in developing strategic industries of importance—all seek for the same target. Therefore, under the resources shortage, how to select strategic industries of importance is the most urgent and important matter.This paper first reviews the existing literature, especially literature about strategic industries of importance and points out that the selection should based on the following five criteria:industry revenue, science and technology productivity, industry linkage, industry coordination and industry continuous growth. It then discusses the developing base of strategic industries of importance, which embodies that the significance of strategic industries of importance is different from that of traditional industries, high-tech industries as well as local-oriented industries.Sixteen indicators are selected among the six leading industries in East Lake Development Zone. Taking into consideration the fifth five-year plan for the selection of and our expectation for strategic industries of importance, the author applies main factor analysis in the analysis of the sixteen indicators and select three main factors as the primary factor for selecting strategic industries of importance. Then, the author includes the three main factors into logistic regression model as independent variables, establish a model for selecting strategic industries of importance with logistic regression model and explain the coefficients of the model.Finally, as for the dominant factor in selecting strategic industries of importance, the author gives several policy suggestions for promoting the comparative advantage of strategic industries of importance in order to form the echelon developing situation for strategic industries of importance. Through gradually developing and optimizing, strategic industries of importance will struggle to take the leading role.
