System integration has become the most promising service in the information industry in recent years. However the management in many small‐and medium‐sized integration enterprises is weak, especially in human resources, project management, quality control management, etc. With the rapid development of information technology, the project of computer information system integration is becoming more and more complex, and the scale of the project is also becoming bigger and bigger. Traditional project management cannot meet the needs of system integration project. Therefore, the industry of system integration needs more scientific and sophisticated project management skills. The urgent task of system integration corporation is to bring advanced project management into use.This thesis explains the characteristics and status of system integration, and analyzes the problem of existing information system projects, including lacking projects scope management, imperfect project plan, poor communication skill, etc. Based on project management theory and many years’ working experience in this industry, the author proposes a framework of risk management for system integration projects, named SIRM (System Integration Risk Management). This framework includes six critical steps divided into three phases. With a real case of system integration project, the author demonstrates how to apply these steps to manage the risk of IT system integration projects. Examples of risk identification, risk analysis and risk control are also given.This thesis aims to provide the system integration company with a risk management strategy to help the company improve the efficiency of project management. It’s also helpful for the system integration company to win the best value and benefit.
