Research On The Influence Of Producer Services In Xiamen And Urban Economic Development

Since the1980s, the word economy has went into the era of “Service Economy”and “Knowledge Economy”. The proportion of the service industry in manydeveloped countries is getting higher and higher. In recent years, the producer serviceindustry with high added value is developing rapidly, and becoming more apparentinfluence for the development of the word’s economy and competitiveness. Thispaper researches on the development of the producer service industry in Xiamen,grasping the present situation, discovering the problems timely, in order to promotethe development level and comprehensive economic strength of Xiamen.This paper systematically clarifies the concepts about producer service industryand urban economy, referencing the statistical data of Xiamen, points out the scope ofproducer service industry. Second, we analyze the current situation of producerservice industry in Xiamen, using relevant indicators to evaluate the characteristics ofthe producer service industry, and find out the problems. Building a comprehensivestrength evaluating indicator system for producer service industry, in the context ofEconomic Zone on the Western Coast of the Taiwan Straits, we study the situation ofXiamen economic development, ranking its comprehensive strength and summing upthe problems faced by urban development. This paper proves the relationship betweenproducer service and urban economic development in Xiamen, and analyzes itseffects on city GDP and employment rate. Finally, summarizing the experience andresults of the development of producer service industry in Shenzhen, combining withthe actual development of Xiamen, we points out the policy proposal from manyaspects such as industry itself, labor and government movements, in order to promotethe industry and Xiamen city economy.
