Study On The Evolution Of Highway Accessibility And The Regional Economic Development Of Guanzhong Tianshui Economic Region

Transportation is the ligament that contacts social economic activities of thegeographical space, and it is the fundamental guarantee that realizes the socialdivision. Accessibility is an important comprehensive target to evaluate the transportnetwork. In the process of regional economic development, the change of accessibilityplays a prominent role of promoting the regional economic development and regionalspatial structure changes.Relationship between transportation and economy has attracted much attentionof scholars, but the previous studies are using single method analysis, and study onthe relationship between changes of indexes is less. In order to study the relationbetween evolution of regional accessibility and regional economic, this paper, basedon analyzing, summarizing the research in the same field both at home and abroad, itfocuses on the55counties of Guanzhong Tianshui Economic region for the study,using principal components and Network analysis of ArcGIS, and combining networkanalysis principle, in the platform of Grey Relational Grade Analysis and elasticityfactor discusses the relationship between the change of highway network accessibilityand economy development of Guanzhong Tianshui Economic region. Someconclusions are as follows:The overall pattern of accessibility presents core-periphery pattern,Xi’an andXianyang and the surrounding cities and counties have been located in the ranks ofthe best accessibility, and the change of the accessibility presented the oppositepattern, and the edge area increase is greater than the center area.The overall pattern of economic level presents the same model with the patternof accessibility. From1999to2009, the change of the economic level showingdiscontinuous distribution, and the economic change in western area is higher thanthat of the whole region, east county is slower.Various economic indicators have different degree of relevance withaccessibility in different period, the data show that the financial income, economicdensity and the level of economic development has a strong correlation with thechange of accessibility.Accessibility is the key factor connecting urban transport with urban spatialevolution, the two have a very high cooperative, and the coordination degree isdistinct in different counties, elasticity coefficient between accessibility change and the economic development is different.
