On the basis of the development planning of Guanzhong-Tianshui Economic Region,the spatial strategy of ‘one core, one axis, and three economic zones’, and the principlesand methods of regional economics, author analyzed and evaluated the grounded propertiesof county production factors quality and technical level in study area. For reasons givenabove, author further obtained5types of regional discrepancy, and then zoned functionallyland use in each area, ultimately provided scientific references for promoting industrialintegration and upgrade, optimizing construction of regional economy and land use.The zoning pathway was a combination of grouping pathway from downstream toupstream and progressing pathway from upstream to downstream, and the criterion systemof land use zoning was structured from three attributes of land use, economical, social andecological. After extracting principal components and analyzing comprehensively of rawcriterion system, the thematic map of dominant factors was possessed under the hierarchicalclustering method. With introducing the regional division index and the location quotienton weighing tendency of industrial agglomeration among the counties, also with analyzingoverlying on the thematic map of each factor by the GIS spatial analysis,5functional zonesof land use were shaped. At the end, on account of regional economy analysis, eachfunctional zone could facilitate the unification of regional division of work in economicregion, and eventually the counter-measure suggestion of coordinated regional economydevelopment and land use optimization were proposed.The main conclusions of this thesis obtained appear below:(1) Zoning of land is the vital measure of land use. With combination of statisticalmethods and geographic division, we could increase the credibility of zoning and ensurethat the results are more close to the reality. In this study, the zoning of land use inGuanzhong-Tianshui economic region based on the methods of principal componentsanalysis and GIS spatial analysis is in the relative consistency of comprehensive analysisand evaluation of the main factors and the geographic division. By the process above, theauthor takes one step further to improve the scientific and quantitative level of zoning ofland use. The geographic trends of land use in this study demonstrate the spatial distributionproperties of decreasing gradually from the axis of Weihe river to north and south, varingobviously between city and rural area, increasing gradually and integrated from northregion to south.(2) The regional economic structure characteristic of Guanzhong-Tianshui economicregion was acquired from the structure quantitative measures: the core part of metropolitan of Xi’an and Xianyang had high specialization degree and apparent leading role to aroundareas; regional work division of other land-use area can be the complementary condition ofpromoting land structure optimization and industrial upgrade. Then the quantitativemeasure of present industry situation was transformed to GIS layer. The indicators ofpresent regional situation and class of planning land, which extracted from land naturalproperties, social economic properties and the environmental conditions of land-use, werespatially superimposed on multi-factors level and classified. Therefore, the expression ofindicators was more directly, and question of the integrity of lower administrative areaboundaries need to preserve in functional zoning of land-use was resolved.(3) The functional zoning of land-use in Guanzhong-Tianshui economic region in thisstudy was obtained by GIS spatial analysis and overlay method of multi-factors weighted,the results were in accordance with economic development, land source and distribution ofecological environment, also in keep with the objective reality. The method of GIS spatialanalysis applying in functional zoning of land-use improved the past methods which wasstill mainly in qualitative analysis, and decreased the subjective random at large extend,also raised up the scientific and accurately of zoning. Hence, the achievement of this studyhas significant practical meaning and theoretic reference value on the development of studyof functional zoning of land-use.
