China is an export-oriented country, and export has been the most powerfuldriving force of China’s economic growth. In recent years, the rapid development ofinternational trade has a significant impact on all aspects of China’s economy and hasobtained increasingly concern. Many foreign studies have shown that, the rapiddevelopment of export would not only promote the development of one country’seconomy, but also has an impact on its real wage. Many scholars in China studied theimpact on wage from perspective of foreign direct investment, intra-industry trade, trade liberalization and so on, but studies from export perspective were few. So thispaper studies the relationship between China’s export and real wage. This paper firstly collated and analyzed some classical theory of wagedetermination and wage affected by export, and summarized empirical examination ofdomestic and foreign scholars on the relationship between trade and wage. Then itanalyzed the situation of China’s export and the level of average wage, and proposedthe mechanism of wage affected by export on the basis of the theory and currentstatus, which explain how export affect the level of wage via commodity prices, laborproductivity, technological progress, and corporate behavior. And then it establishedan empirical model adopting data set of China’s31provinces from2000to2010,whose regression results showed that China’s export has a remarkable positive impacton the level of real wage. Finally this paper proposed some conclusions andrecommendations on the basis of the empirical results.
