As the tourist industry’s rapid development, it has become one of the largest and fastest growing industries. And the benefits on economy, social benefits are more and more prominent. Tourism is no longer an isolated development of an attraction, but it is a time for development of the entire area. Tourism spatial structure consists of many elements of tourism activities that interact with each other. It reflects the spatial relationships among the tourist activities. Learning the current situation of the regional spatial structure, understanding the evolutional law, and constructing a better spatial structure can promote the development of tourism industry quickly and harmoniously. As a developed tourist economy province, tourism revenue of Zhejiang Province accounts for12.17%of Gross Domestic Product. Study on the tourist spatial structure and its formation mechanism has practical meanings.This paper combines the theory of central place and tourist spatial structure. Using the theories and methods of some disciplines synthetically, such as urban geography and tourism geography, this paper has analyzed the hierarchy system of tourism central place and its spatial structure. The article takes the research in Zhejiang Province for example.The main contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly, in this paper, the author analyzed the concepts, functions and formation mechanisms of tourism central place. Through the analysis, we know the tourism central place has many functions including transport services, reception services, information services, management services and distribution services. The formation and development of tourism central place are influenced by tourism resource, traffic conditions, economic performance, reception capacity, regional tourism planning, correlated policy and so on.Secondly, the article uses standard deviation and coefficient of variation to analyze the tourism development status of Zhejiang Province. There are large differences among different cities. Based on that, the paper calculates the location quotient using data of hospitality volume and total tourism revenue. The results demonstrate that Hangzhou and Ningbo are developed areas, Wenzhou, Shaoxing, Jinhua, Jiaxing and Taizhou are developing areas, other cities in Zhejiang are backward areas.Thirdly, according to the tourism industry data of Zhejiang Province in2010, the author calculates the tourism centrality of every city through Principal Component Analysis (PCA) method. Then Voronoi diagram is used to divide the whole region into three different hierarchical systems. The result shows that it takes Hangzhou for the first level, Ningbo, Wenzhou and Jinhua for the second level, and other cities for the third level. At last, using the gravity model, the author divides the whole region into four tourism areas. These tourism areas include northern area, eastern area, southern area and southwestern area. Based on above analysis, we know the tourism spatial structure is influenced by tourism resource, reception capacity, urban development and regional tourism competition.Forth, based on the analysis of current situation of tourism spatial structure in Zhejiang Province, this paper puts forward some measures to achieve better tourism spatial structure:to confirm the positions of every tourism central place; to consolidate all of the tourism resources in the whole region; to improve traffic conditions; to strengthen regional tourism cooperation.
