Emergency events are the sudden onset that may cause great harm or damage to thesociety, thus, it’s necessary to take urgent measures to deal with them. However, inrecent years, the incidence of emergencies has showed a rising trend which urges us tobe more concerned with the corporate role in events. On the other hand, publicbecomes more sensitive to the corporate behavior in the emergencies. How to practiceCSR action effectively and efficiently is a new research perspective and challengecurrently. This paper is focused on the CSR behavior in the context of emergency events. Withthe occurrence of emergencies, the balance of social needs will be broken down whilesome sudden needs will arise. According to the Theory of Maslow’s Hierarchy ofNeeds, the sudden needs are the urgent ones which must be satisfied in order tomaintain basic life. For the corporation, it means a choice between huge profit andresponsibility’s fulfillment. In the long term, CSR is crucial to achieve corporatesustainable development. Based on the Stakeholders Theory, corporate behavior musttake the stakeholders’ benefits into consideration. Therefore, in the emergency cases, corporation should meet public’s expectations when confronted with the sudden needswhile combining with its own core competence, resources or vision for the sustainabledevelopment. Through the Tohoku Japan Earthquake case and relating survey, paperstudies the relationship between CSR patterns and public’s recognition and takes alook at the influence to the corporate sustainable development.
