Rural women account for more than60%of the labor force in the rural areas of China; they are an important force promoting economic development and social stability in the rural areas. Therefore, the rural women’s development attracts wide attention of all walks of life in society. Micro-credit, fortunately, provides an opportunity or channel for the poverty-stricken women, and those in the rural areas in particular, to generate income. However, the current research on micro-credit mostly focuses on the economic perspective, the theoretical models and the operating methods of micro-credit, rather than on the policy aspect. What’s worse, the research on how women’s federations, the principal policy providers for micro-credit relating to the rural women, facilitate execution of the micro-credit policies for women is even less. Therefore, it is of great practical and theoretical significance to make research on the micro-credit policies for rural women. This thesis makes in-depth analyses and discussions on the micro-credit policies for women of Nanping City, Fujian Province by means of both empirical and normative research. The normative approach includes mainly theoretical analyses and introduction, while the empirical approach addresses the issues in need of explanations and research by way of case study, surveys and statistical analyses. Taking the women-oriented micro-credit policies of Nanping City for instance, this thesis introduces the background of the women’s micro-credit policies from the national and international perspectives, analyzes the micro-credit policy process for women in China, and summarizes some experience and best practices in the micro-credit efforts for women in Nanping City. In assessing the effect of micro-credit policies, it fully affirms the positive significance of women’s micro-credit, but also sets forth and analyzes all the problems facing the implementation of micro-credit policies for women in Nanping City, and finally, gives concrete solutions and suggestions in response to the problems aforementioned.
