Research On The Embeddedness And Performance Of Returnees’Entrepreneurship

Talent is very important for the development of our national economy, the improvement of science and technology and the breakthrough of innovation. As the high level talents, returnees’importance appears highlight particularly in the age of economic globalization. Countries are scrambling to introduce various preferential policies to do talent introduction. Chinese returnees entrepreneurs is increasing, however, their success rate is not ideal. Under this background, this paper try to study how to enhance the returnees entrepreneurial performance.First, based on the review of previous information about entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial performance and embeddedness theory, combined with the returnees start-up characteristic, we find that we can use embeddedness theory to study returnees business performance.Second,based on the semi-structured interviews between returnees entrepreneurs, we use grounded theory research method, preliminary obtained related embeddedness on returnees’venture:cognitive embeddedness, structural embeddedness and political embeddedness.Third,based on the grounded theory analysis, combined with the growth stage of enterprise,we use case studies and quantitative analysis to furtherly study that in the different stages of entrepreneurship, returnees entrepreneurs have different emphasis on embeddedness. Study found, returnees do not simply use one embeddedness but dominantly choose one or several embeddedness to meet their business needs in entrepreneurial process. In general, returnees entrepreneurs mainly use the cognition embeddedness and structure embeddedness to achieve entrepreneurial performance in the opportunity recognition stage;In resource access&enterprise creation stage, focuses on the application of political embeddedness and structure embeddedness; finally in the growth&development of enterprise stage, returnees entrepreneurs will make comprehensive use of cognition embeddedness, structural Embeddedness and political embeddedness to achieve enterprise performance target.Lastly, we discussed the theoretical contribution and practical contribution and pointed out the limitations of this paper and future directions for further research.
