A Research On The Public Participation Mechanism In The Tourist Planning Of The City

During compiling the urban planning, especially the one for tourism, the public participation could not only protect their own rights and interests, but also make the planning more perfect by the advices from many parties, which could bring in the multiple-wins result.The public participation in planning starts in Britain after World War Ⅱ and gets its peak in US with the further development in democratization during1960s. The western countries pay much attention to the public participation, whose mechanism has come into being and kept being completed.Public participation in planning was introduced to our country in the early years of1990s. After over20years’development, public participation has attracted the great attention from the central government to the locals and gained more awareness from the society. Public participation has been formally written into City Planning Law of People’s Republic of China in2008, which symbolizes that public participation has developed from the era of disordered nongovernmental organization to the stage of officially recognized and law-based activity. However, comparing to the western countries, our country just starts to make the related systems for public participation and the gap is still huge on the aspects of the guide, organization, execution and training from both the government and the public, where the systems need to be established and completed.In this dissertation, it writes the situation in the tourism planning for Wuxi Taihu Lake National Tourist Resort Zone to particularly make the analysis on the current problems in public participation in our country and finally put forward the mechanism mode for public participation in tourist city planning, which will be suitable for the real situation in Wuxi Taihu Lake National Tourist Resort Zone.
