Urbanization is a"population-economic-space" three-dimensional integrated process. In the process, People are thesubject of action, economy is the driving force, and space is the carrier. Population agglomerationand industry cluster lead to the form of city, and urban space layout is the reflection of populationand economy. The reasonable layout of urban space will influence the further convergence ofpopulation and economy.Based on the statistical data, the paper reflects the basic characteristics of urban space layout inShanxi Province: The relationship between city size and urban space layout is obvious.Objectively,when city is small, urban space layout is scattered and urban space level structure isunreasonable. Through the analysis of input-output model, the paper comes to the conclusion:Accumulative effect of the big city is strong, the small city’s is weak; What’s more, theunreasonable industrial structure will weaken the urban agglomeration economy effect.Finally, the paper proposes some countermeasures and suggestions on the urban space layoutof Shanxi Province: rapidly developing the big and medium cities, optimizing the industrialstructure, promoting the rational flow of agricultural population, setting up financing channels andetc.
