Residents' Income Difference Between Urban And Rural Areas In Shanxi Province Space Differentiation Research

Our country since reform and opening up has entered a rapid development period,the social and economic aspects performance significantly.However,due to differences in locational condition,resource endowment,economic base and other aspects,regional economic development speed varies and the difference between them is also growing.Among that,the most significant difference is rural-urban differences,which is the inevitable result of economic development.Reasonable difference could provide momentum to economic development,however,large difference would not only impede economic development,but also trigger other social conflicts.Urban-rural income disparity is a direct indicator of rural-urban differences.The expansion of this disparity could not only impede the sustainable development of China's economy and society,but also go against with our targets of building a harmonious society and balancing urban and rural development.This paper would have a general study on the urban-rural income disparity of Shanxi Province.As a province known formine resources,Shanxi has made use of its resource advantages to help its cities and rural area to develop at different levels,resulting to changing urban-rural income disparity.On the basis of studying theologies and relevant researches on urban-rural income disparity,this paper analyzes urban-rural resident income difference and its spatial pattern by respectively choosing urban-rural resident income and variation coefficient as indicators and using GIS(Geographic Information System).This paper studies urban-rural income disparity through comparative analysis on national and county levels,all of which would be conducted through three aspects: urban income disparity,rural income disparity and urban-rural income disparity.Being expanded from time dimension,,the comparative analysis on national level researches the change rule of the urban-rural income disparities of Shanxi Province by collecting statistics over the years on urban and rural incomes.Studying from spatial dimension,which utilizes GIS mapping to show the specific circumstances of spatial distribution differences,the country level selects three time sections to analyze the status quo and evolution of rural-urban income disparity.Through analyzing the status quo and evolution of rural-urban income disparity and exploring factors influencing rural-urban income disparity and spatial differentiation,this paper provides proposals for narrowing urban-rural income disparity.At last,it draws conclusion and has a summary and reflection on the inadequacies of this study.This paper includes six parts:Part I: Description of research background,significance,status at home and abroad as well as its research ideas and methods.Part II: A general description of the theoretical basis and related concepts of urban-rural income disparity.Part III: It first defines the study scope of this paper and expands by choosing urban-rural income ratio,variation coefficient and GIS hypsometric tinting.This paper compares urban residents' income level,rural residents' income level and urban-rural income disparity of Shanxi Province and the whole nation.By utilizing GIS,the country level comparative analysis selects three time sections to analyze urban residents' income disparity,rural residents' income disparity and rural-urban income disparity.Regional type division is processed in the space differentiation of urban-rural income disparity: according to the income level of urban and rural residents,rural-urban income disparity is divided into three types,that is,two-high type,single-high type and two-low type,and each type consists of A and B in consideration of the level of rural-urban income disparity,which is reflected through GIS.Part IV: Analysis of factors influencing rural-urban income disparity,mainly from five aspects: resource endowment,topographic condition,traffic condition,economy developing level and government policy.Part V: Providing proposals to narrow urban-rural income disparity.In concrete terms,we need to adjust the single industrial structure so as to accomplish economicaltransformation,strengthen the construction of public services and infrastructures,optimizing rural industrial structure to provide more channels for farmers to income increasing,play the growth pole role of cities so as to drive development of surrounding areas;increase government policy support.Part VI: Conclusions and deficiencies of this paper.
