The Construction Of Tourist Culture In A Web

Tourism is defined as the sum of relations and phenomena happening during the process when people travel to and stay in places outside their usual environment for a short time for leisure purpose. Thus, tourism has come into being when people’s physical and spiritual lives have been developed to a certain extent. This paper concentrates on the concept of cyber network and the case of Dongguan city to prove how Systems Theory is applicable to constructing tourist culture The author advocates that culture is a process of construction which demands innovative mindsets. In the contemporary world where the internet prevails, we should be guided by the concept of cyber network and reveal the multi-faceted picture of tourist culture in order to accelerate the development of tourist industry. This paper is consisting of two parts.The first part contains five sections. First, the author explains the similarity between cyber network and tourism by anyazing cyber network and the concept of cyberization. Second, he points out five problems in Dongguan’s tourist industry, namely, shortage of tourist sites, absence of policy support, poor planning of tourist resources, limited cultural relics and plain marketing methods. Third, he introduces the concept of cyberization and provides five creative solutions to the issues of Dongguan tourist industry. Fourth, he deconstructs Dongguan tourist culture in ten aspects. The fifth section is about how Systems Theory work to construct a tourist cultures by exploring its characteristics and development trend and the way how this uniqueness controls, manages, revitalizes or creates a tourist culture catering for human needs. The purpose of this research is to readjust the structure of tourist culture in order to coordinate all the elements in an optimized pattern. With this regard, Systems Theory has rich prospects in the research on tourist culture construction.The second part is conclusion. This paper examines the construction of tourist culture from the perspective of cyber network as a tool, or in fact by applying Systems Theory which is applicable to Dongguan case but might not be suitable for other cases. However, it provides a new solution to cities on understanding tourist cultures.
