Six Sigma philosophy was derived from Motorola in1980s. Its initial implementedin Motorola communications department to improve processes efficiency, productsquality and services level during which they achieved remarkable result in pursuit “zerodefect”. Subsequently, the success of many renowned multinational companies, such asGA, Kodak, Siemens, Nokia, Sony, in implementing Six Sigma DMAIC methodologyhad proved its scientificalness and effectiveness.Particularly in recent years, many manufacturing companies and organizations tryto combine the concept of Six Sigma, lean thinking, and project management systemtogether. They use lean thinking to focus on the value added activities, reduce waste, onthe other side, utilizing six sigma method to reduce process variation, improve projectefficiency and reduce cost to continuously meet and exceed customer expectation..Six Sigma is an advanced quality management system, but its combination withproject management is not mature enough, and still in primary stage in Chineseenterprises. Based on these two points, the authors in this article make the followingstudies:This article is divided into four parts, the first part is an overview of Six Sigmaproject management theory, the second part is a study of Lean Six Sigma projectmanagement theory in Company M, the third part is the practical application of SixSigma project management theory, and the last part is a lesson learn in Company M andrecommendations in the manufacturing applications. This article try to interpret a realMX150Six Sigma project implementation in the Company M, which is a largemultinational foreign-funded manufacturing enterprises, to exhibit the entire projectimplementation process from the establishment of Six Sigma project execution system, project selection, measurement system analysis, FMEA, fishbone diagram, Plato chart,to ultimately achieve the success.By comparing before and after difference in MX150project process capability, economic and technical indicators we can get the conclusionthat the Lean Six Sigma project management theory is an advanced improvementsystem that is suitable for modern manufacturing enterprises to improve competitiveness. The author attempts to associate theoretical study with practical implementation inCompany M Lean Six Sigma project management, especially through the analysis andpresentation of MX150project to show how to build a Lean Six Sigma projectmanagement framework in manufacturing enterprises, how to use the tools and steps ofDMAIC, and thus offer some guidance and reference to domestic manufacturingenterprises.
