Vegetable is the essential agricultural products for the urban and rural resident, vegetableindustry is the important industry to the people’s livelihood. The development of vegetableindustry is an important method to peasants increase income, improve agriculture benefit,rural prosperity and social stability. Shandong Shouguang is the famous hometown ofvegetable and the largest vegetable production base in China. The vegetable industry inShouguang takes an important part in China and basically represents the development level ofShandong vegetable industry especially protected vegetables. The development ofShouguagn vegetable industry had produced many successful experience and a strongtheoretical and practical support for the development of vegetable industry, but theContradiction between the restricts industrial health and the sustainable development hasbecome more and more significant with the development of times. It’s well worth to studyabout how to maintain the ever-developing and the radiating drive role of Shouguangvegetable industry to the whole country of vegetable industry, realize the upgrade and thesecond leap of Shouguang vegetable industry and the experience and lesson for the otherareas to the development of vegetable industry.In this study, we made depth investigation and research aimed at the various problems ofShouguang vegetable industry, made explore from several angles of technology and policy,Summaried the successful experience of the drive action about the Shouguang greenhousevegetable industry development to the local economy, analyzed the current situation,newsituation and problem of the development of Shouguang vegetable industry, proposed thestategy of the revitalization and sustainable development of Shouguang vegetable industry.The summary is as follows:①Analyze the current situation of vegetable industry in ShouguangThe states and impacts of vegetable industry in Shouguang before and after the financialcrisis were analyzed. And the analysis of development in vegetables germplasm resources ofShouguang and the advanced mode in foreign seed companies were also carried out. Thesecould help us to understand the situation and look for development ideas. ②Summarize the successfule experience in the development of vegetable industryin ShouguangThe government takes development of protected vegetables as the economic growth forpromoting the local economic development, which leads a rapid start for the vegetableindustry in Shouguang. The regional,scaled and specialized vegetable production model wasthe base for the vegetable industry in Shouguang. The market system and the productinformation platform were the key to industrial development. The successful of ShouguangVegetable Science and Technology Exprosition created the brand of Shouguang vegetables.Excellent facilities and vegetable species were the key to fast development of protectedvegetables. Taking vegetable industry as the main line and developing the secondary industrychain were the effective method for the local economic development.③Analyze the new situation and problems of vegetable industry in Shouguang atpresentThe developments of high-end products were confronted with opportunities andchallenges and the market system need for government guidance. The problem of agriculturalecological environment has becoming increasingly prominent. The development of vegetableprocessing and deep processing was slowly and exports were difficultly. The lowmechanization and delayed breeding affected the industry developments. Also the quality offarmers needs to be further improved.④Propose the stagy of the revitalization and the sustainable development strategiesfor the vegetable industry in ShouguangMaking full use of the advantages in agriculture,a series of scientific soil remediationsystem to improve the quality of soil and vegetables were proposed, in which part of theprogram was verified. We should learn the advanced experience of foreign countries,strengthen the cooperation with domestic scientific research institutes and the domesticproduction of vegetable seed, research the vegetable pollution-free production and thetechnology system. Enhancing the research capacity, adjusting the industrial structure,expanding the production scale of high-end products and improving the level of deepprocessing of vegetables were also advised. In addition, exerting ourselves, strengtheningthe sense of quality and achieving the pollution-free processing of vegetable wastes were alsoneeded. The development direction of vegetable industry was proposed and set up the earlywarning mechanism to reduce the farmers’ blindness.In conclusion, in this study, we deepened the countryside, field surveyed, and analyzedthe current situation of Shouguang vegetable industry, summed up the successful experience,found out the existing problem and constraints bottleneck of Shouguang vegetable industrydevelopment, make full use of professional knowledge, put forward the solution, and as well as partly example verification was also carried out, proposed early warning mechanism.Theresults in this study not only take an important role in guiding the sustainable deveelopmentof vegetable industry in Shouguang, but also have an important theoretical and practicalvalue for Shandong Province even the country’s vegetable industry.
