| With deepening of reform-opening up and implementation of the “going out†strategy,China has accelerated the pace of outward foreign direct investment (OFDI). Meanwhile,the trend that the core competitiveness of an enterprise has been changing cost advantagefor technology advantage in the world is clear. More and more scholars start to focus onthe influence from China’s OFDI to domestic technology advantage. Among those, a mainstudy direction is that reverse technological spillover effect of China’s OFDI and domestictechnological progress. But, few divide technological innovation from technologicalprogress and study on the influence between reverse technological spillover effect ofChina’s OFDI and domestic technological innovation in the perspective of technologicalinnovation. So, with two aspects of theory and empiric, the paper research the impactbetween reverse technological spillover effect of China’s OFDI and ability of domestictechnological innovation.The paper consists of six chapters. The first chapter is introduction, witch introducingthe background and the significance, the main contents and research methods employed,the creations and definitions. Chapter2is literature review. It synthesizes and providescomments on relative existing literature at home and abroad from theoretical and realistic.Chapter3is scummy of OFDI and ability of technological innovation including thedefinitions of some main study objects, introduces of current situation of China’s OFDI,generalization of the level of China’s ability of technological innovation. Chapter4ismechanism of the impact between reverse technological spillover effect of China’s OFDIand domestic technological innovation. Two parts belong to this chapter. The first isfeasibility analysis of reverse technological spillover effect of China’s OFDI with theoryand reality. In this part, firstly, setting a model called two enterprises with homogeneousproduct and technological difference to get, in theory, the feasible condition of countriesoutdated technology promoting the ability of domestic technological innovation by OFDI. Secondly, it analyzes, in reality, the international and domestic conditions of polishing theability of domestic technological innovation by reverse technological spillover effect ofChina’s OFDI. The second part is the path of reverse technological spillover promoting theability of domestic technological innovation based on four access models includingGreenfield, Cross-border merger and acquisition, Establishing oversea R&D institutions,Multinational coalition. Based on theory above the Chapter5is empirical analysis. Thepaper uses the data of31provinces from2003to2010to take analysis of regression,showing that the reverse technological spillover effect of China’s OFDI promote the abilityof domestic technological innovation. But, differences exist among the east, the middle, thewest, which the east gets the most influence from reverse technological spillover effect ofChina’s OFDI, the middle obtain the better than the west. The gaps also exist among thedifferent kinds of patent license including the patent for invention, utility, appearance, butthe differences are not obvious. Chapter6is conclusion and policy suggestion. Aftersummarizing the conclusion of this research, this chapter put forward policy suggestionsfrom macroeconomic level and microcosmic level. |
