Since1980s, with the economic development and scientific progress, service tradeplays a more and more important role in the international trade. One country’scompetitiveness of trade in services has a great relation with the country’s wholecompetitiveness. Since1990s, China’s service trade has a great rapid development,especially since the accession to the WTO, China is facing a broader international market,which will undoubtedly provide a great opportunity for China. However, due to a varietyof reasons, there are still many problems in China’s service trade. In order to remaininvincible in international competition, we should have to improve the internationalcompetitiveness of China’s service trade. Based on the empirical analysis of China’sservice trade, this paper will research the international competitiveness of China’s servicetrade and its influencing factors. First, by analyzing the characteristics and shortcomings ofChina’s service trade, the paper will analyze the international competitiveness of China’sservice trade which is divided into12kinds of category according to the rule of WTO. Andthen, the paper will research the factors that influence the China’s service trade accordingto Porter’s Diamond theory. At last, the paper will put forward a lot of suggestions toimprove China’s service trade. This study has great significance for the theoretical researchand policy implementation of the international competitiveness of China’s service trade.This paper is divided into six parts. Part I: Introduction. This section describes thebackground and significance of the paper, the concepts about service trade and its division,the main content and research methods, the innovation and inadequacies;Part Ⅱ: Basic theory about international competitiveness of service trade and itsresearch situation. This section mainly explains the international trade theories, Porter’sDiamond theory and the main research situation at home and abroad;Part Ⅲ: This section describes the basic characteristics of the internationalcompetitiveness of China’s service trade, and sums up the main problems of China’sservice trade;Part Ⅳ: Empirical analysis of China’s international competiveness of service trade.This section introduces the method of index analysis including index of internationalmarket share, trade competitiveness index and dominant competitive index.Part Ⅴ: In this section, according to Porter’s Diamond theory, the paper will analyzedifferent kinds of factors that affect the international competitiveness of China’s service trade and do empirical analysis;Part Ⅵ: Above all, this section gives kinds of suggestions relating to the government,industry and enterprise which are amid to improve the international competitiveness ofChina’s service trade.
