As the speedy development of national economy, the income and living standard of Guangxi’s residents have increased constantly also. Local food supply situation is also changed from serious shortage in the early days of foundation to fairly Well-off now, the daily food consumption structure undergone tremendous changes also. Along with it, mainly for rapid rise in the consumption of non-staple food, vegetables and fruits, and the fall in staple food. The problem of household food consumption is not only concern residents’nutrition and health, but also related to the development of upstream and downstream related industries. Based on this background, the paper borrow ideas from research methodologies and related theories from domestic and foreign scholars, analysis the possible factors that affect Guangxi residents’food consumption, and relying on the CHNS (Chinese family nutrition and health survey data), Empirical test these factors.The study about the Daily food consumption of Guangxi residents is beneficial not only to complement our existing theory, but also confirms the existing theory, apart from this, it has a very important theoretical and practical significance for the research of follow-up issues the making of related policies, the development of related industries strategy.This study combine qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis method, Start from macro perspective, analyses the changes in the characteristics and trends of Guangxi Engel coefficient, the characteristics of average annual per capita consumption of various types of food. Then, from microscopic point of view, select cereals, meat, vegetables, eggs, these four categories representative food, and Conduct in-depth analysis of impact on household food consumption in Guangxi combined with the income level, education level, whether urban residents, gender, age factors, food prices these six major categories factors, trying to find the law, and analysis the structural changes characteristic which arise from Guangxi residents’ food consumption change with the times from the perspective of Per capita food expenditure proportion and the income elasticity of food consumption. Sum up the conclusion of the empirical analysis, given the relational Inspiration of the study.The main conclusions of this paper are:(1) income factor is positive correlate with the food consumption of Guangxi residents, but food marginal propensity to consume decreased gradually;(2)2000-2009, Guangxi household food consumption structure changed significantly from the grain-based turned to balance with Staple food and Non-staple food;(3)in the classical consumer theory, the food is inelastic, but part of the regression coefficients showed the sensitivity of food prices, Consider the sample size, statistical quality, food substitutes, etc. Comprehensive judgment obtained that Guangxi residents’food consumption is not sensitive to food prices in general, However, in the are the quadratic coefficient of the income factor of the Guangxi residents’ food consumption function model a or part of residents, food have price sensitive;(4) The quadratic coefficient of the income factor of the Guangxi residents’food consumption function model is Non-zero leads to the conclusion that Guangxi residents’ income elasticity of food consumption is not constant, the elasticity of non-staple food is reducing, and the elasticity of Vegetable food Is increasing, the overall performance is that food consumption is changing from increasing the number of high-calorie, high protein categories of food (such as meat, eggs) consumption to increase the consumption of high dietary fiber content of food (vegetables);(5) Age, educational level, gender, whether urban residents, all these factors are significantly affected the food consumption of residents in Guangxi. The age factor (except for young period) has a significant negative impact on cereal food consumption, the degree of education have significant positive effects on the four categories of food, man’s consumption on cereals, vegetables, poultry food is higher than female, but lower than female on the consumption of eggs food. The daily consumption of rural residents for cereals and vegetable food is higher than that of urban residents, but the consumption of Poultry food is lower than urban residents, about the consumption of Eggs food, Urban and rural residents did not differ significantly.
