Warning and disaster prevention of lightning is more important in people’s production and life. Lightning location system have a wide range of applications in various industries, it has a high value of usage in protection and early warning of lighting. Compared with other positioning methods, the single station lightning location system is more practical and achievable, and it becomes a popular research direction.This passage first introduces the performance requirements of single station lighting location system, and gives an overview of the basic structure of the system. The model of equipments and the architecture of the development board are also shown in this passage. X3-10M is chosen as target development board. Based on the development board Architecture, it shows the mainstream cloud-ground lightning positioning algorithm, the selection of appropriate positioning algorithm, and the process of establishment of theoretical modeling. And it designed to meet the grading positioning algorithm the data flow and the function of each part of the logic circuit elements hierarchically and in a stepwise manner. The working process and data words’syntax are designed too. This paper focuses on the implementation process of the cloud-ground lightning positioning algorithm. Cloud-ground lighting positioning algorithms includes distance and azimuth information extraction. It accomplished the azimuth information extraction by calculating the ratio between two orthogonal magnetic fluxes. The main point is the design and implementation of the divider and lookup table. From the extraction of information about the realization of the process of transformation of the sequence of time domain to the frequency domain, as well as the subsequent modeling of the mathematical model, the provisions of the data word format. And it presents programming to achieve the required functionality.Difficulties in the system design of this article is to design reasonable positioning plan for cloud-ground lightning characteristics, including theoretical modeling, the provisions of the format of the data word and logic design. And take functional testing on the development platform, to ensure that the design did meet the correctness of the algorithm can be realized.
