The Negative Of Existence Of Gaojiacun-Gaodian Fault In Baoji City

"Gaojiacun-Gaodian fault" was determined as a Holocene active fault during "85period"in Baoji City In order to further the existence and activity of the "fault". We have a fieldinvestigation,trenching and shallow seismic exploration based on the previous studies.andbased on this,we have theoretical analysis and synthesis of research on its plane distributioncharacteristics, fracture length of dislocation amplitude matching.Finally,we got some follownew ideas:1、After re-investigation of its previous evidence we think that the "fault" does not existin the surface.Jutou section is actually a landslide, the cross-sections in Tongyu Riverprospecting trench is actually a river erosion surface. The Holocene offset in Yang jiadianprospecting trench is actually a sliding surface of landslide; although the Tang jiayuan andZhang jiagou prospecting trench have been destroyed, faults are not appeared along their linesbut developed many landslides.2、The surface morphology and distribution of the "fault" is very irregular, The "fault" isonly55km long but contain more than a dozen discontinuous relevance of paragraph,and the"fault displacement"of each paragraph is great(0.5to40meters).It is difficult to give areasonable explanation for its linkage and movement mechanism that to become Holocenerupture segment at the same time, and formated tens or even100meters of the fault scarp. It isalso difficult to analogy with the prior numerous active fault features.Therefore, it is difficultto determine the existence of the "fault".3、The length does not match the displacement according to the statistical results andplenty of instances. Theory and a number of statistical results do not support the over15mof the "displacement" of the "fault"in previous studies.4、Shallow seismic exploration results show that in the east of line (Xianan village) Bjx3,other places had no faults exist except the Sanguanmiao,Therefore we think that from the eastof Xiaoan village to Jutou the "fault"does not exist. In the west of the target area within10kmrange, although Line Bjk5,Bjx1,Bjx2have the information, but they all in a concealed state,And their location is inconsistent with the previous position.so it also showed that the "fault"does not exist.
