Titanium dioxide has many advantages, such as non-toxicity, high photocatalytic activity, goodoxidative ability and chemical stability etc. As an emerging field of study, TiO2has not onlycutting-edge, but also a great potential in application. However, there are some shortcomings of thepure TiO2, such as low quantum yield, low utilization of solar energy and poor absorption properties etc.Immobilized TiO2is a good prospect photocatalytic material. In order to prepare an efficientphotocatalytic material, this thesis chose bamboo charcoal as a good load carrier. In this paper, TiO2/Bamboo Charcoal composite photocatalyst was prepared by sol-gel method.Adsorbent carrier was bamboo charcoal which has strong adsorption ability, the photocatalyst werecharacterized by XRD, SEM and FT-IR. The result showed the main crystalline structure of loadedtitanium dioxide was anatase, and with the increase of the titanium source, the load was increasedaccordingly. The influencing factors including calcination temperature, the amount of the titaniumsource, the amount of the catalyst and illumination time were investigated in order to examine thephotocatalytic activity of TiO2by degradating methylene blue. The result showed that when thecalcination temperature was450oC, the doges of catalyst was0.5g, the amount of tetrabutyl titanate was40mL, doping60g bamboo charcoal, degrading100mL methylene blue of5mg/L, the effect ofphotocatalytic was better. And the rate of degradation increased with the increase of the photocatalytictime, in0-10min, the rate of degradation is the fastest. As a carrier, bamboo charcoal has some advantages such as special microporous structure, highspecific surface area and good adsorption capacity, which composited with TiO2. The prepared TiO2/BCcomposite photocatalyst improve the mass transfer efficiency of the photocatalytic by the feature ofadsorption enrichment of the carrier. Using bamboo charcoal as adsorbent carrier for nano-TiO2photocatalyst material provides a new research direction in the field of environmental management. Finally the antimicrobial properties of TiO2/Bamboo Charcoal was tested, the result showed TiO2/Bamboo Charcoal has some antibacterial effect.
