Phase change materials are a kind of materials which processendothermic and exothermic phenomenon during phase transition process.Phase change materials are capable of energy storage and can be used tocontrol temperatures. Phase change materials have a lot of advantages likeeasy to get, cheap, non-toxic, environmentally friendly, etc. They are greatlyemphasized because they have the potential to solve the environmental crisisby enhancing the energy consumption efficiency. However, phase changematerials have some shortcomings like easy to burn, leakage during the phasechange process which frustrated them from being widely used in daily life.In this paper, polyethylene glycols with different molecular weights wereused as encapsulated phase change materials. Tris(4-aminophenyl)thiophosphate and a silane coupling agent γ-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane were used to synthesis shell material containing phosphorus, sulfur, and silicone. The wall material was bonded by Si-O-Si bond in sol-gelreaction. The results showed that TK-PEG6000was not only avoided leakagephenomenon in the phase change process but also had the ideal phasetransition temperature and enthalpy. TK-PEG6000is a new kind of flameretardant shape stable phase change material. At the same time, we also studied a new type of flame retardant phasechange material based on fatty acid. Tris(4-aminophenyl) thiophosphate,1,10-Decanedicarboxylic acid, succinic acid and stearic acid were used as rawmaterials to synthesis two new flame retardant phase change materials, namely poly [diphenylmethane diamine dodecyl acid dithiophosphate (octadeamidophenyl)](short for PSB) and poly [succinate dithiophosphate (octadeamidophenyl) diphenyl diamine](short for PSD). The test results showed thatPSD had better thermal performance than PSD. Further studies on PSB had been done. Through thermal gravimetric analysis, it was found that the amountof carbon residue of PSB was significantly greater than that of stearic acid. Theresidual carbon plays an important role in diffusion the combustible gas andisolation the inner layer from the flame. Thus conclusion can be drawn thatPSD has a better thermal stability and flame retardant properties than stearicacid. We also synthesized poly [diphenylmethane diamine dodecyl aciddithiophosphate (tetra amidophenyl)](short for PPD) with Tris(4-aminophenyl)thiophosphate, palmitic acid and1,10-Decanedicarboxylic acid. Resultsshowed that PPD is an ideal phase change material with flame retardantfeatures.
