For a long time, stainless plate has been widely used in some fields such as aerospace, petro chemistry, automobile industry, architectural industry and so on. For its unique corrosion resistant, high strength, wear resistance and attractive surface appearance. Today, with sharply promoting comprehensive strength of China and heightening the levels of National Defense Equipment, especially in building large navy ship extremely depend upon high-quality stainless plate. Moreover, accompanied by decreasing global energy and worsening environmental pollution, the fundamental strategy for development of iron and steel enterprises is resource utilization ration, improving the rolling yield of plates.This paper bases the roughing roll’s production field of the1780mm continuous hot rolling line. The seam-defect appears in the surface which is at10mm-20mm distance from the edge of plate after rough rolling. The deforming process of plates between the seven-pass reversible vertical-horizontal rough rolling is numerically simulated by rigid-plastic FEM software deform, considering carefully convection、radiation and heat transfer among plate、air and rollersFirstly, this paper simulated the rolling process of flat vertical roll, researched primarily the cross-section shape of work-piece every pass, the deformation characteristic and the flow law of corner and edge metal, analyzed the cause and influencing on the seam-defect in more detail.Secondly, this paper simulated the rolling process of the original curve-surface vertical roll; analyzed width spread in horizontal rolling process, compared measured value and simulated width, and then checked that the simulation is reliable. In addition, we obtained the value of latter up-turn was greater, through comparing the cross-section shape and the flow law of the corner and edge metal between flat vertical roll and original curve-surface vertical roll. and compared the value of width-recovery when horizontal rolling the dog-bone cross-section strip as well, found that the width reducing efficiency of original curve-surface vertical roll was better. Next, discussed the effect on the flow law of corner and edge metal under different edging, and analyzed equivalent plastic strain of strip.Finally, through simulating a great deal of models and studying the deformation characteristic, I designed new curve-surface vertical roll. Then researched the flow law of corner and side metal; otherwise, analyzed the effect of different roll shapes about restraining the seam-defect along the surface towards the center of plate width.
