With the development of the Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (WEDM) technology and machining technology, the demand of accuracy of machined surface is higher and higher. In order to improve the accuracy of surface machining, we must consider the influence of the relatively high speed between electrode and the work-piece to crater shape and the surface roughness. The small pits that form on the surface what is produced by high temperature directly affects the surface quality of the workpiece. The temperature of the electrical discharge machining field and the size and depth of the dent are simulated by the ANSYS in the paper, which is important to understand the Electro Discharge Machining Mechanism and improve the Surface Roughness and so on.This paper analyzes the Electro Discharge Machining Mechanism and the physical process in the Electrical Discharge Machining. Considering the influence of phase transition and distribution of discharge total energy between two electrodes, the heat transfer model of the work-piece under moving heat source and fixed heat source based on single pulse discharge was established And get the formula of both thermal current density load of gauss distribution and the unsteady heat conduction of moved point heat source in the infinite area. The temperature fields of spark discharge are simulated by ANSYS against the model above. Fixed and moving thermal current density are successfully loaded by using the APDL Language Programming. At the same time, this paper analyzes the distribution of temperature under different pulse width and different current. The results indicated that the higher relative speed between electrode and work-piece, the smoother surface roughness is through analysis of the size and depth of the melted zone’s change rule based on fixed heat source and moving heat source.
