Based on the characteristics of Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM), there were many advantages of Switched Reluctance motor Drive system(SRD), such as simple structure, wide speed range, starting torque, low cost. Meanwhile there were many problems for the main drive system of shuttle-less looms, which need new transmission system of the above characteristics. Combined with this demand, this paper focuses on the theme of design and research of switched reluctance motor drive system.First, this article did not only summarize the development of SRD both in domestic and aboard, but also introduced composition and characteristics of SRM, and status of current research. Second, according to characteristics of the main drive system of shuttle-less looms, the paper gave a detailed analysis of feasibility of SRD being applied in the looms and energy savings. Also, it showed a design of shuttle-less loom spindle brake system based on SRM, considering practical requirements of industrial production.Combined with analysis of control ways of SRM, the voltage PWM control method was selected; this paper choose closed-loop contron, in which speed loop was outer ring and the current was inner, on the control strategy. The overall drive system was simulated based on Matlab/Simulink environment, and the simulation results was analyzed.On basis of theoretical analysis and simulation studies, the article designed the drive system of a7Kw,8/6pole SRM, which software and hardware was described in details. The controller of system used STM32F103VB chip based on ARM Cortex-M3core; the design of the H-bridge power converter was analyzed briefly and phase change logic was designed; rotating transformer was designed in detecting module of rotor’s absolute position to improve the feedback definition. Finally, the drive system was debugged, analysis of the experimental results showed that the performance of drive system was good.
