The Disasters And Relief Of Inner Mongolia In The Period Of The Republic Of China(1912-1937)

Under the general background of the turbulent period of theRepublic of China, the natural disasters are frequent and various in InnerMongolia. Based on the reports of Ta Kung Pao from1912to1937on thedisasters and famines of Inner Mongolia, the thesis analyzes all theserious disasters, the loss, causes and social relief of Inner Mongolia inthe period of Republic of China in the perspective of the influentialnewspapers. The thesis makes people understand comprehensively thedisasters, famines and disaster relief of Inner Mongolia from1912to1937and discusses the active role of Ta Kung Pao in disasters.The thesis consists of the introduction, main body and theconclusion. The main body consists of four chapters. The first chapterexpounds Ta Kung Pao’s evolution, policy, the people-oriented idea, andthe characteristics of Ta Kung Pao’s reports on disasters andfamines—the universality, promptness and profundity. The secondchapter introduces the reports of Ta Kung Pao from1912to1927onInner Mongolia’s pestilence, drought, flood, snow disaster and so on. Thepaper shows in detail the loss caused by the disasters reported by Ta KungPao. In the third chapter, according to the reports of Ta Kung Pao thethesis analyzes the causes of the disasters of Inner Mongolia in the periodof Republic of China. The fourth chapter tells the remedies reported by TaKung Pao.as a representative of modern private newspaper, Ta Kung Paoreported the disasters of Inner Mongolia in detail, analyzed the causes ofthe disasters and positively propagandize relief. It plays an important rolein the famine relief of modern Inner Mongolia. At the same time, thelimitations of Ta Kung Pao are exposed and people can understand thereports of Ta Kung Pao on disasters objectively.
