Spindle system is one of the main parts of high precision surface grindingmachine. To solve the problem that the thermal characteristics of the spindle systemhas much effect on grinding machining accuracy, it is very significant to research onthe influence of temperature variation of the spindle system of high precision surfacegrinding machine tool on the grinding accuracy.In this paper, a FEM model of the spindle system of MGK7120×6high precisionsurface grinding machine tool was established by using ABAQUS. Then theinfluence of coefficient of convection heat transfer on thermal equilibrium of spindlesystem was analyzed, and transient temperature field of the spindle system wassimulated by combining the finite element simulation and experiment. Details ofstudies are as follows:1.3D FEM model of the spindle system of MGK7120×6high precision surfacegrinding machine tool was established. The power of spindle heat sources andcoefficient of convection heat transfer were computed after the sources of heat andheat transfer of spindle system were analyzed.2. FEM model of the spindle system is established. The changing regularity oftemperature field distribution of the spindle system as a function of time wasexploring, and main measures to improve the thermal characteristic of the spindlesystem were presented based on simulating transient temperature field. At last, thetemperature field of the spindle system was measured.3. The influence of temperature variation of the spindle system of high precisionsurface grinding machine tool in preheating phase on grinding machining accuracyby experiments, including grinding machining experiment, verification experimentand spindle system vibration experiment. Grinding machining experiment wascarried out to obtain the influence of temperature variation in preheating phase onthe real grinding depth. Based on the actual grinding depth data, calculation formulaof grinding depth in preheating phase at any time is obtained by least square datafitting. Then the error compensation scheme was proposed and compensationexperiment was carried out. Spindle system vibration experiment was mainly tostudy that temperature variation of spindle system in preheating phase influence thespindle vibration, which influences the surface roughness of workpiece.
