The elevated torch is one of the most commonly used security facilities in thepetrochemical industries. The safe distance of elevated torch directly relate to the investmentin the construction and land resources of the petrochemical industries. It does not has aunified and recognized as the precise calculational method of the safe distance of elevatedtorch at home and abroad, study on how to reasonable to determine the minimum safedistance of elevated torch in the case of ensure safety, it s of great significance to provide torelevant basis of improving the specification of methods of determining a safe distance ofelevated torch.This article is based on the experiment of elevated torch jet flame and comparison amongsome other commonly safe distance calculational methods of elevated torch, a new calculationmodel based on the subregional-multipoint source is established, and we use CFD technologyto simulate the jet flame of elevated torch. Main research contents are as follows:(1) Research on the jet flame characteristics of elevated torch. By establishing small sizeexperiment platform of elevated torch, the characteristics of the jet flame of elevated torch,the flame feature geometry, the distribution regularity of flame temperature and thermalradiation are analyzed. In the different wind speed conditions,the jet flame angel variation isstudied, it provides the basis for establishing new safe distance calculation model of elevatedtorch, and provides the reference contract for examining the rationality of the numericalsimulation results.(2) Established the new safe distance calculational model of elevated torch based onsubregional-multipoint source. Based on the analysis of the jet flame experiment research andsome commonly safe distance calculation methods, overcoming the insufficiency of othermethods, the new safe distance calculational model of elevated torch based onsubregional-multipoint source is established, with the wind rose diagram theory, itreasonablely determines the safe distance in different directions according the safe radiantheat intensity and the wind speed of different orientations.(3) Research on CFD numerical simulation technology in the safe distance of elevatedtorch. Based on research on the small-size experiment of jet flame of elevated torch, weselects EDC combustion model and CFD turbulence model to simulate the jet flame ofelevated torch. Compared with the results of experiment, the validity of the numerical modelis verified. And use the numerical method to simulate the large size elevated torch, the resultsare analyzed, it provides a reference for the following improved model in the superiority of engineering application.(4) Engineering application and effectiveness analysis. As the elevated torch of apetrochemical industry in Guangdong Province for an example, according to the establishedsubregional-multipoint source model, we calculated the distance. And the results arecompared to the results of CFD, results of the common single-point source model and resultsof the common multi-point source model, verify the superiority of the subregional-multipointsource model...
