In recent years, the glass materials containing metal nanoparticles due to the unique optical properties and potential applications in the field of nonlinear optics aroused people’s great attention and interest, noble metal nanoparticles composite glass because the strongly surface plasma resonance effect of the nanoparticles makes the material has a unique linear and nonlinear optical properties, such as high nonlinear optical Kerr susceptibility and ultrafast nonlinear response, etc. This paper introduces the crystal structure of Ag and Cu, the preparation methods of containing Ag nanoparticles in liquid phase and solid phase (film, glass), the domestic and foreign research present situation, and Cu nanoparticles in the glass. By the sol-gel method combined with heat treatment doped Ag and Cu nanoparticles in Na2O-B2O3-SiO2glass, and the microstructures of the quantum dots doped in these glasses were characterized by a variety of techniques. In order to measure the third-order nonlinear optical properties of the Ag and Cu quantum dot doped glass, the Z-scan technology was employed, and the main contents of this paper are as follows:(1)Silver quantum dots doped in sodium borosilicate glass were synthesized through sol-gel method using Tetraethyl orthosilicate(TEOS), boracic acid, metallic sodium as precursors. Tested the pore of the Na2O-B2O3-SiO2dry gel to determine the size; The valence state, morphology and microstructures were characterized by the X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) as well as high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). Ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) absorption spectrometer obtained and studied the surface plasma resonance (SPR) absorption peaks of the Ag quantum dots, nonlinear optical properties of silver quantum dots doped glass were investigated by using Z-scan technique at the wavelength of800nm, the value of nonlinear refraction index γ, nonlinear absorption coefficient β and the third-order nonlinear optical susceptibility χ(3) of the glass was estimated to be-1.72×10-1m2/W,9.96×10-11m/W,1.01×10-11esu, respectively.(2) Cu quantum dots doped In Na2O-B2O3-SiO2glass by the same process preparation through the sol-gel method. The NMR technology was studied the silicon spectrum and boron spectrum of the Na2O-B2O3-SiO2dry gel to analysis the structure in450℃; The structure of the quantum dot was characterized by the X-ray powder diffraction (XRD); ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) absorption spectrometer was used to explore the optical properties of the Cu quantum dots in the glass of the morphology and microstructure were characterized; the glass nonlinear refractive index7, nonlinear absorption β and third-order nonlinear susceptibility χ(3) were measured using femtosecond Z-scan technology in800nm wavelength, the results were3.45×10-16m2/W,1.77×10-8m/W,6.52×10-10esu, respectively.
